My Story

H ey, what’s up! I’m Matt Rife – actor, stand-up comedian, and your favorite guy who tells it like it is, with just the right amount of charm (and chaos). If you’ve landed on this page, thank you – that means you’re curious about my story, and I’m excited to share it with you.
I was born on September 10, 1995, in Columbus, Ohio – yep, just a kid from the Midwest who liked to make people laugh. From a young age, I found comfort in comedy. It was my escape, my passion, and eventually, my purpose. I started doing stand-up as a teenager, hitting open mics and making people laugh before I could even legally have a drink.
You might’ve first seen me on MTV’s Wild ’N Out, where I got to go head-to-head in comedic battles with some of the funniest people in the game. That show sharpened my skills, boosted my confidence, and introduced me to a global audience who liked their comedy quick, smart, and a little reckless. Over the years, I’ve done acting too guest appearances on shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fresh Off the Boat, and WTH: Welcome to Howler. But no matter where life takes me, stand-up has always been home. I’ve performed in packed theaters and tiny clubs, toured across the country, and shared stories from my life that people tell me they actually relate to.
My comedy is personal. I talk about relationships, growing up, insecurities, and life’s weird moments. I don’t pretend to be perfect. I just try to be real, and maybe make you laugh while I figure things out myself.
The love and support from you the fans is what keeps me going. You show up, you laugh, you DM me wild stuff (you know who you are), and you remind me that this journey is bigger than just telling jokes. It's about connection.
